About Saint Louis Ballet School
Directed by former principal of New York City Ballet and former lead in the Broadway Show CATS in London and New York, Gen Horiuchi opened the doors of SLBS in the year 2000. The school is built on his belief that ballet serves as a foundation in life. By studying ballet, regardless if a student has a goal of becoming a professional performing artist or not, the student is building a strong discipline and work ethic that will serve them well in all areas of life and study. In addition, studying not only ballet, but all forms of dance as well as music makes a dancer well rounded. Bringing a student’s work to the stage is also an important factor in dance and music education. SLBS offers yearly performance opportunities through it’s annual end of year performance as well as the opportunity to perform in Saint Louis Ballet’s professional productions such as St. Louis’ holiday favorite The Nutcracker at the Touhill.
